Setting up the Security tab for Edulink One is a quick, but essential, process for administrators.
To begin, log in to the main Edulink One user interface. Locate the Administration settings in the top left corner of the screen in the cog.
Inactivity Timeouts
Inactivity timeouts allow you to customise the length of time a user must remain inactive before a forced logout.
Customise the inactivity timeout time for parents, employees and learners by using the arrows in each field to increase or decrease the time.
Edulink One’s default sets a time of 60 minutes before forcing a logout due to inactivity.
Enable Password Remembering
The enable password remembering setting allows Edulink One to store and memorise passwords.
Select the user groups from the dropdown list, you have a choice of all employees, teaching staff, learners and parents. You can also enable fixed employee groups to access this feature. To create a fixed user group, visit the User Groups tab.
Ensure Device Passcode Enabled
You can force specific user groups to have a passcode/pin/pattern/fingerprint before they can log in to the app.
To set up Ensure Device Passcode Enabled, select the group(s) you would like this feature enabled for. You can select all employees, teaching staff, parents and learners. Also, you can select fixed user groups that can be created in the User Groups tab.
Not only does this force a device passcode to be enabled to log in to the app, but it also forces a passcode to be used to regain entry if the app goes to the background, i.e. if the user switches to a different app.
Force Logout if in the Background
Forces the app to log out if the user switches to another app and Edulink One goes to the background.
This can be set up for various user groups such as all employees, teaching staff, parents and learners. Fixed user groups can also be forced to log out if Edulink One is in the background.
Password Protect PDF for
This function enables PDFs downloaded from the Edulink One documents area and for child protection referrals to be protected by a password for set user groups.
Password protection can be enabled for parents, learners, all employees and teaching staff. Additionally, you can also set password protection for fixed user groups which you can create in the user groups tab. This is useful if you need to create groups to review confidential documents.
Once the password-protected user groups have been selected, the school can input a password and inform its users of it.
